El Shaddai

Genesis 17:1 (HCSB) - "When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. [El Shaddai]" Live in My presence and be blameless."

This is a marvelous name for God. It carries two opposite concepts - that of sympathy and power.  The name means "the powerful one" and also "the tender one." The base of this Shaddai is the Hebrew word shad that means breast. The picture is One who can take us to His breast when we are in need of comfort. But, the breast or chest area is also a picture of strength and might. He is the One who is able to solve the problems in your life.

Ponder today over how that God is the One who has everything that you need - you can trust and obey Him. He will comfort you and also give you deliverance and victory. What do you need form Him today?
