bên 'âdâm

November 12

Daily Bible Reading: Ezekiel 1 - 3

Verse of the Day: Ezekiel 2:3 – “And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak with thee.”

Chapters 1 through 3 of the book of Ezekiel discuss Ezekiel’s call and commission as a prophet of God. Through vivid imagery, the prophet records the importance of God’s hand on him, God’s word in him, and God’s message through Him.

In this book, Ezekiel the expression “Son of man” (Hebrew bên 'âdâm) occurs almost 100 times. It serves to emphasize the difference between the Creator and the created. It also is used to mark the prophet as a representative of the human race.

Jesus adopted this title – as He was also a representative – the “last Adam.” Jesus is the God-man, a glorious sign for all of sinful mankind.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being our representative before God. Your sacrifice is all that we need, and all that we have. Amen.
