Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 10:24 - 42
Verse of the Day: Matthew 10:39 – “He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”
In our passages today, Jesus was reminding His disciples that persecutions were coming – and we know that they did. He reminded them to fear God and not man, He challenged them to confess Him before men. In doing this, He said that division would come.
Today, we often think that plurality and unity at any cost is the right way. Jesus said that submitting to Him, standing on His truth, and speaking the truth in love is the only acceptable way. Sometimes this will cause division.
We need to learn to look at the eternal and not the immediate. Will temporal division provide eternal reward? Will temporal unity cause the loss of eternal rewards? We must choose the eternal over the temporal.
Prayer: Eternal God of Creation, I seek to submit, stand, and speak in the basis of Your love. Give me courage to follow through. Amen.
