The Fullness of God

October 10

Daily Bible Reading: Colossians 2

Verse of the Day: Colossians 2:9 – 10 – “ for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power:”

Here we see Paul speaking about the doctrine we call the Incarnation of Christ. This is the understanding that God entered time and space in bodily form. Jesus stepped out of heaven and into His Creation. Paul is refuting a Gnostic concept of the first century that God could not be physical, and if He was physical He couldn’t be God.

Because of Jesus, we have everything we need when we have accepted Him into our lives. We are made complete when Jesus comes in as our Savior and Lord. Many of Paul’s day thought that you needed special secret knowledge to be made complete. Paul stresses that when we receive Christ we become complete in all ways.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus came in the flesh to provide the fulfillment that I need in all areas of my life. I am so thankful that I have the fullness of Him.
