Dark Days

April 6

Daily Bible Reading: Judges 18 – 19

Verse of the Day: Judges 18:24 – “And he said, ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and are gone away, and what have I more?”

These two chapters start the closing thoughts of this book. They are hard to read and understand how or why they are included. It will all lead up to the final sentence in this book.

This is a very dark period in the history of Israel. God’s chosen people, yet they act as bad or worse than the other nations around them. How could they be God’s CHOSEN people? The answer is in the Sovereignty of God. He chose them. He chose them not because they were good or perfect, He chose them because He had a plan to bring a Redeemer into the world and they would be the vehicle.

We can be thankful that God doesn’t work through perfect people – because there are none. He works His plan through those He chooses. Allow Him to use you today.

Prayer: Sovereign God, I pray that I might be a vessel used by you in this time. Amen.
