Daily Bible Reading: Your favorite passage of Scripture

Verse of the Day: Revelation 4:11 – “Worthy art thou, our Lord and our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power: for thou didst create all things, and because of thy will they were, and were created.”

What a great and glorious doxology in the book of Revelation. Doxology literally means a study of praise. However, dictionaries usually define the term as expressions of praise to God, often associated with a hymn sung during Christian worship.

As we consider this verse of the day, notice that the 24 elders before the throne start with acknowledging the worth of God. He deserves our praise because of His glory, power and honor. We can proclaim praise to God because He is the great Creator, and we owe our very existence to this One. They cast their crowns before Him in this passage because they surrender to His Lordship and Majesty. Can we do the same today?

Prayer: Worthy are You O God to receive my praise, my worship, my whole being today.
