Where Will Revival Start? #2

In a few days, the church I am Transitional Pastor at will begin a series of five meetings on Revival. We are privileged to have a student from Southwestern Theological Seminary come and lead our services. We began praying for God to move in our hearts back in January and will continue to pray for Him to ignite the fire in each of us. we have been praying for Eric Dyer as he is preparing his heart and messages to come be with us. Over the next few days of devotions, I will be sharing some thoughts about revival.

Let us continue to consider a verse often used for a call to revival. While the context is focused upon Israel, the truths can apply to us today.

2 Chron. 7:14 - "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

We spoke about humbling ourselves, next we need to continue in prayer. I’m convinced that the devil laughs when he sees the strongest saint standing on his feet and trembles when he sees the weakest saint on his knees! We will never have heaven-sent revival without prayer!

Notice God says, “Seek my face” as we pray! Do you see the picture given here? God has turned His back on His people. This means taking time out of our busy schedules, climbing the corporate ladder, raising the kids, in between our personal wants, the doctor’s report and get back in God’s presence more than just Sunday!

Until America seeks “God’s face” we will continue to make the wrong decisions about solving our problems. We say we want more money for our schools – so America legalizes gambling – did we seek God’s face? We say we need to stop teen pregnancy – so America legalizes abortion, shouts down abstinence and pass out condoms like they are candy – did we seek God’s face? We say we need to protect our children from sexual perverts – so America gives them less than a year in jail – did we seek God’s face? We say we want to stop sexually transmitted diseases – so America proclaims “Just practice safe sex!”– did we seek God’s face?

Do you ever get the idea that we’re just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? What is revival? It’s the light of God that shines in a nation’s darkness, it’s the love of God that breaks through a nation’s dullness and it’s the life of God that flows through a nation’s deadness! Pivotal Prayer is the key concerning America’s revival! We need to be a nation of people that are more interested in the person of God than personal gold, more consumed in God’s righteousness than getting rich and more determined to achieve spiritual victories than acquiring personal vices!

If we conquer pride and continue in prayer – we will have revival!

Prayer: Father, may we return to spending time with You in prayer. May we seek Your face, May we seek your person. we come in prayer just when we want something, may we come just to spend time in Your Presence. I seek You. Amen.
