Greetings:
“…if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.” Romans 12:8 (HCSB).
A Sunday School teacher asked the boys and girls if they ever showed kindness to dumb animals. One little boy finally spoke up, “Well, I kicked my brother one time for kicking his dog!” Maybe the little boy had a lot to learn about mercy but at least he was moved deeply enough to take action!
God gifts us to show mercy – compassion – to those who are afflicted, who have a need. Earlier we studied the gift of exhortation (3/27). This concept is that we help those who have needs with a cheerful, exuberant attitude. As we consider that God gave us a great gift because of the sacrifice of Christ, He sought to meet our need – may we be challenged to meet the needs of others as God gives us the power and ability to.
