Daily Bible Reading: Ezekiel 4 - 6
Verse of the Day: Ezekiel 6:4 – “And your altars shall become desolate, and your sun-images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.”
In the Hebrew, the word gillûl means shapeless things (like stones or logs) out of which idols were made. Ezekiel uses this term almost 40 times in contempt for the false gods who had led Israel astray.
What are out idols today? Fame, fortune, power, pleasure? How about people or activities? Maybe it could be possessions. Whatever distracts our focus on God, comes between our relationship with Him, this is an idol. What is fine for you, could be an idol to me – or vice-versa.
Quiet times with God are vital. They help us refocus our vision of God, restore our worship of God, and rekindle our praise of God.
Prayer: God, today lead me to spend some special quality time with you. May I refocus, restore and rekindle our relationship. Amen.
