Daily Bible Reading: Jeremiah 46 - 48
Verse of the Day: Jeremiah 46:1 – “The word of Jehovah which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.”
If you haven’t already picked up on it, the message that Jeremiah had to deliver to his people did not make him very popular. We all want good news, but sometimes God’s message sounds like bad news. We must beware today not to seek out the speakers who speak of only beauty and pleasantness. If we are true to God’s Word, often He speaks warnings to us about our lives and ways of living. Do we listen?
Jeremiah here begins to speak God’s message to the nations – moving west (Egypt) to east (Babylon). No one is exempt from the eyes of God. If we do wrong, be assured that God knows and will judge. Being a Christian does not give us a “free pass” to do anything we want. Sometimes the message of God makes the messenger very unpopular.
Prayer: Father, let me be aware of Your Word, and popular or not, live it. Amen.
