"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (HSB)
If we develop the lifestyle and the inner attitude of being a Peacemaker, we
Get something in return.
We will be called the children of
God. This term was used to describe Adam (Luke 3:38) in the pre-sin relationship
to God. It speaks of those who in character and life resemble God in this
world. Those who have the same calm and joyful trust in God which children do
in their parents (Romans 8:14, Galatians 3:26).
The term is used preeminently of
Jesus Christ, as enjoying the supreme love of God, united to him in
affectionate intimacy, privy to his saving councils, obedient to the Father's
will in all his acts.
So, in other words – we are
adopted as belonging to God. We are sons and daughters that resemble our Father
in Heaven. This part is written in the future tense – it is a certain occurrence. It is also in the
passive voice – meaning it is something that happens to us, not by our own
actions. God does it to us, we can’t
make it by ourselves.
It is written as if it has
already occurred. A simple statement of
fact.
Can you claim it?
