Daily Bible Reading: Numbers 5 – 6
Verse of the Day: Numbers 6:24 – 26 – “Jehovah bless thee, and keep thee: Jehovah make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: Jehovah lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
The Lord gave Moses this blessing to be spoken to the Israelites. We often hear this spoken at the conclusion of a church service (the words “The Lord” substituted for Jehovah). God holds out to us an offer for a peaceful, worry-free existence that we can enter into in a moment-by-moment basis.
It is not God’s desire that we live a life of struggle and trial. However, His offer is based upon our living in obedience to Him. He offers salvation freely, but we are to respond obediently. This blessing was given to Aaron and his sons by God before the nation rebelled against Him – even though He knew they would. His promises are true and faithful if we are willing to trust and obey.
Prayer: Gracious and Forgiving God, help me to walk humbly and obediently in Your way. Amen.
