Daily Bible Reading: Leviticus 1 – 3

Verse of the Day: Leviticus 40:34 – “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man of you offereth an oblation unto Jehovah, ye shall offer your oblation of the cattle, even of the herd and of the flock.”

We enter into the Book of Leviticus at this time. Many become bogged down in this book. It is definitely not “light reading.” To send the time in a tough book like this, we need to understand the purpose of the book. We need to remember that this book has two major sections in it – the first is in chapters 1 – 17. It teaches about access to God, while Chapters 18 – 27 deal with our walk with God. We can find ritual and practicalities in this book. One thing to look for during our travel here is Christ – He is pictured in every sacrifice and ritual. The burnt offering pictures Christ’s complete dedication to complete the work; the grain offering speaks of His service; the peace offering speaks of Him being our peace.
