Daily Bible Reading: Numbers 8 – 10
Verse of the Day: Numbers 10:13 – “And they first took their journey according to the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.”
The Tabernacle has been built. It has been furnished. It has been dedicated. God has taken up residence in the form of the Shekinah glory. And now, He begins to move the people toward their promised inheritance – Canaan – the glorious Promised Land.
All things appear to be going in a smooth direction. God is blessing, all is well in the world. I try to imagine the excitement that must have been in the camp that day. When I travel I have a heightened sense of anticipation and pleasure.
Yet we have the ability to read and see that this will soon change into grumbling and worse, total disobedience. How could they? Better still after reading their account, how could we? Things seem to never change – that is without God’s divine intervention.
Prayer: Patient and Loving Father, I so often start out well only to grumble and disobey. Help me to walk in Your path. Amen.
