Christmas Symbols - The Manger

TEXT:  Luke 2:7  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."

Each of the symbols we see at Christmas can help us to discover and learn about the wonderful message of Christmas. They help us to return our focus to the true meaning of this season. God the Son stepped from eternity into time and space. He came to deliver mankind from the chains of sin, and He did this by taking on human flesh and dying for us. So let’s see what we can learn today –

Our symbol today is the Manger. What can we learn from this symbol?

Think about the manger – stable, animals, etc. Not exactly the most sterile environment – in fact not a place most people would even choose to spend the night. Definitely not a 4-star motel.

It is the most unlikely place for the Son of God to be born. No place is really worthy of receiving Him. But today, where do we allow Him to be?

Where should He be is in your heart, in your home, and, in your sinful habit (let Him clean up the dirty stable of your life).

When you see a manger this Christmas, remember that Jesus came to the most unlikely place.
