Daily Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 7 – 9
Verse of the Day: 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “ if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
A very well-known verse. The word for pray in the Hebrew (palal) can also mean to intervene or to judge. In chapter 6 verses 3 – 42, Solomon modeled intercessory prayer when he pleaded with God on behalf of the people – and continued to pray until God answered. In our verse today, God tells us that this is the type of praying that His people need to do to bring about revival and restoration of the land.
Are we willing to pray like this for our country? Or, do we just casually ask God to restore our land? Which do you think pleases God and will receive an answer?
Prayer: Gracious God, I come in humble intercession to You today – restore your people and Your honor in our land. Amen.
