Balancing Act

December 7

Daily Bible Reading: 2 John

Verse of the Day: 2 John 1:1 – 3 – “The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth; for the truth’s sake which abideth in us, and it shall be with us for ever: Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.”

John continues to encourage us to love in this short letter. He speaks about the fact that the mark of Christianity is our continuing to show love one to another. Let it flow. Give it away. Show it in every circumstance.

He also stresses in this letter that we are to take an uncompromising stand against error. But, you think, how I act loving and stand in opposition to wrong thinking and acts? We must live in the balance of truth and grace. We are to walk in truth and extend grace to those around us, all the while maintaining our integrity and stand for what is true.

Prayer: Father, it is a balancing act of being gracious and loving, yet firm in mu stand against evil and error. Balance me in Your hand.
