Fear or Love?

December 5

Daily Bible Reading: 1 John 4

Verse of the Day: 1 John 4:18 – 19 – “There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love, because he first loved us.”

A person once said that the opposite of fear is not courage; it is love. He was basing his comment upon this passage. John informs us that when we are totally in the perfect love of God we have nothing to fear.

Jesus told us not to fear those who could kill our bodies, but to fear the One who could destroy our bodies and souls in Hell. And, when we come into a perfect knowledge of the great wonderful love of the Father, we no longer need to fear. When we belong to Him, His perfect love for us will make sure that all things work for our good. He will eventually make all things right. We need only trust Him.

Prayer: Glorious, Good, and Holy Father, the One Who is Love, the One Who gives Love, The One Who pervades our whole being with You Love, overwhelm me in Your precious and perfect Love today. Let flow through me!

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:5-8)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
