Daily Bible Reading: 1 John 1
Verse of the Day: 1 John 1:1 – “That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life.”
John writes this letter to expose the false teachers and to give believers an assurance of salvation. He starts the letter with a verse that has four great verbs to stimulate our thoughts and understanding.
The words: heard (which means to attend to, consider what is or has been said), seen (to see, i.e. become acquainted with by experience, to experience), beheld (to behold, look upon, view attentively, contemplate often used of public shows), and handled (to handle, touch and feel) all emphasize to us that John personally knew and had closely investigated the One he is about to write about.
Do you personally know the Savior?
Prayer: Jesus I want to know You in a personal and up-close way. I want You to be so real in my life that I could never ever deny You.
