Only a boy named David...

April 15

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17 – 18

Verse of the Day: 1 Samuel 17:50 – “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.”

I learned the account of David and Goliath at a very young age. I was taught the story, learned songs about it, and knew that David was quite a hero.

As I grew older, I realized that the true hero in this account was not David, it was God. You see, without God the best we could say about this episode is what a coincidence. David knew it was God, he had placed his trust (and life) on the line of God’s faithfulness. When God is involved, anything can happen.

God is the One who directed the stone out of the sling of David, He divided the Red Sea, and He brought His Son back to life from the dead. God delights in the incredible.

Prayer: Incredible God, I trust You to work in my Life. Amen.
