Stupid is as Stupid does

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 22 – 24

Verse of the Day: 1 Samuel 24:15 – “As saith the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked cometh forth wickedness; but my hand shall not be upon thee.”

David has just had the opportunity to kill Saul who was seeking to kill him. But, he refused to touch the Lord’s anointed. Saul will call David more righteous than himself because of this. David quotes this old proverb they had and says that wicked deeds come out of the wicked heart of a man.

In the movie, Forrest remarks that “Stupid is as stupid does.” It means that an intelligent person who does stupid things is still stupid. In other words, you are what you do. David would not allow himself to respond to the desire for revenge – because he did not want to allow evil to have control of himself.

Today, allow the good fruit to be displayed in your life.

Prayer: Father, allow only that which is good to be displayed in my life. Amen.
