The Lord Departed

Daily Bible Reading: Judges 15 – 17

Verse of the Day: Judges 16:20c – “But he knew not that Jehovah was departed from him.”

Samson. A mighty Judge for the nation of Israel. Yet, he was brought down because of his fleshly desires. The accounts of this great warrior for God are full of his lustful desires. Over and over again he succumbs to his lusts, until finally we read this sad verse – God had departed from him.

God will often use us as His instruments in this fallen world. He will even continue to use us as we submit to the deceptions of Satan, the world, and our flesh. However, realize that there will come a time when He will say – “Enough!” He will take His hand off of us and then we will be exposed to the results of our sin.

Today, search your heart. Is there any sin that you are harboring, holding on to? If so, confess and dispose of it right away. Don’t lose the fellowship with God.

Prayer: Abba, Father, cleanse me, purify me, make me clean for Your use. Amen.
