Daily Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 7 – 9
Verse of the Day: 1 Samuel 4:5 – “…and they said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
God in many of His prophecies had shown that He would be giving the nation of Israel a King. However, they were impatient and had their own reasons for wanting one. In the verse today we see that they are basically saying they want one because everyone else has one. It is like the phrase – “Everybody else is doing it.”
We can see that the results of wanting what everybody else had will not be good. As we continue through First Samuel, we see Saul – the people’s choice – as not being the best of choices. God’s choice would be a young man named David. When we follow God’s plan in God’s time with God’s directions for God’s blessings, we will see the ultimate of our what our desires really are seeking.
Prayer; Almighty King, may we be wise enough to follow You all the time. Amen.
