Humble Bragging on God

Daily Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 7 – 9

Verse of the Day: 2 Samuel 7:26 – “And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is God over Israel; and the house of thy servant David shall be established before thee.”

In his prayer, David greatly rejoices in his God. He humbly rejoices over all that God has done for him. He does not understand why God has chosen him, but he recognizes the Hand of God upon him and his life. He prays, worships, and gives thanks to God for these blessings.

David understood that God gave all that he had to him. David did not see himself as a self-made man. We can learn from this humble attitude that all that we have came from God and belongs to God. When we begin to see the blessings of God as something we have done – we are making ourselves god in His place.

Prayer: Majesty, Provider, Redeemer, thank you today for all that You have provided in my life. May I always remember this. Amen.
