Daily Bible Reading: Judges 20 – 21
Verse of the Day: Judges 21:25 – “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
This sums up life without God. You see, Israel was a theocracy – God was the King. Yet they continually disobeyed and sought other ways of life. As we have looked at this book of Judges, this verse sums up all that has taken place.
Without a leader, anarchy reigns. And when anarchy reigns, someone always steps in to run things. In this case, it says that everyone did what was right in their own eyes – a good definition of anarchy. So, who stepped in to run things? He is there. He is hidden in the background. Do you see him? Do you know who it is? It is Satan. The evil that prevailed over and over again in this book was the handiwork of the master deceiver, the accuser, the father of all lies. And he does the same today.
Prayer: King Jesus, open my eyes that I might see the evil one and his work. Amen.
