Fear not!

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 20 – 22

Verse of the Day: 1 Chronicles 17:16 – “Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.”

By one man’s count, there are over 365 forms of “Fear not” in the Bible. Chuck Swindoll reminds us to “Think of them as God’s one-a-day vitamins.” (The Living Insights Study Bible, pg. 426)

Why would God spend so much time encouraging us to not fear? Could it be that our natural tendency is one of worry and fear? If we naturally gravitate to worry and fear, how could we keep from worry and fear? The answer is to place our trust in One who will not, can not, or be able to fail. When we are trusting God for all the areas of our lives, we can be free and “fear not.”

Prayer: God of all possibilities, help me today to place my trust entirely in You. Amen.
