That's Enough!

May 10

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Kings 21 – 22

Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 21:25 – “But there was none like unto Ahab, who did sell himself to do that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.”

King Ahab and Queen Jezebel are often thought of as the epitome of evil. Ahab is the classic weak-willed husband. He allowed Jezebel to lead him into all levels of evil. In chapters 19 and 21, we see Jezebel exploiting her position to get things done her way.

But in these accounts we see God saying “That’s enough!” He steps up to put a stop to this couple’s evilness. He declares what He is going to do in this chapter.

Scripture constantly shows us the loving grace of God in our sinful lives. But, we must beware – this grace of God does stop when God says – “That’s enough!”

Prayer: Father, help me to be aware of the sin in my heart and life. Father, may I never stop seeking to be in your grace. Amen.
