Daily Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19 – 20
Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 19:4 – “But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper-tree: and he requested for himself that he might die….”
The most insidious thing about self-pity is its ultimate end. Hold it close to your bosom, nurse it, and you will find it grow into the most hideous beast – an infection that will spread its poison throughout your entire system. Bitterness. Paranoia. A sea of quicksand that continually seeks to pull you under. It grows and attaches the nettles of doubt, despair, and the desire to die.
Even the great saints of God (as we see with Elijah) are not immune to this disease. The only prevention is to be vaccinated with God. Have you got your vaccination today?
Prayer: O, Great Physician – come and deliver me from this great disease of my soul today. Amen.
