Daily Bible Reading: Colossians 3
Verse of the Day: Colossians 3:15 – “ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
The Greek word ειρηνη has a variety of meanings: tranquility, unity, harmony, and corresponds to the Hebrew word שָׁלוֹם (shalom) that holds a primary meaning of wholeness. In the New Testament, it generally is used to denote a harmonious relationship between people.
The Greek word for rule used here, βραβευετω means to act as an umpire or to be an arbitrator. So, the unifying, harmonious, wholeness of God work in our lives as an umpire when the concepts of anger, envy, and other such passions arise.
Prayer: Father, I seek You to so live in my life that every time passions that are not in line with the reconciliation that You have produced in my life through Christ may be controlled. Look into my heart and any such passions that I am harboring today remove and cleanse my thoughts and intents. Amen.
