Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

October 15

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 3

Verse of the Day: 1 Thessalonians 3:11 – 13 – “Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way unto you: and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we also do toward you; to the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.”

Paul here talks about the coming (Greek παρουσια) of Jesus Christ. The word used means presence, the coming, arrival, advent, and thus carries the meaning in the New Testament of the future visible return from heaven of Jesus, to raise the dead, hold the last judgment, and set up formally and gloriously the kingdom of God. The question today is simply this, Are you ready for His return?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I know Your word tells of Your Second Coming. May I be ever ready for that event. Each day brings us one day closer to that great climatic revealing of You. I long to see You face-to-face. I long for Your Presence in all of it’s fullness. Come, Lord Jesus!
