Daily Bible Reading: Ezekiel 47 - 48
Verse of the Day: Ezekiel 48:35 – “It shall be eighteen thousand reeds round about: and the name of the city from that day shall be, Jehovah is there.”
Wow! Did you catch the last phrase? I pray that you didn’t slide over it. “and the name of the city from that day shall be, Jehovah is there.” In the times of the Scriptures, names held great significance. The name represented someone or something. The name included the characteristics and promises about the person or place. Consider Jesus, it means Savior. Or the title Immanuel, it means God with us.
Here Jerusalem will be designated as Jehovah is here. That means that the presence of the Covenant-keeping God was located in that city. God in all His glory is in His Temple, land, and people. What a way to end this magnificent book of prophecy.
Prayer: Glorious God, we look forward to the day when all the earth will shout that You are here. You are present with Your people and we can praise and worship You here. Amen.
