December 4
Daily Bible Reading: Daniel 3 - 4
Verse of the Day: Daniel 4:37 – “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.”
Sometimes we can get very smitten with our own importance. But, before we do, we need to stop and look back at the pit of sin that Jesus Christ lifted us from. Better yet, don’t just think about it – confess it. We are all undeserving of the grace of God.
A friend of mine often said that when we think too highly of ourselves we need to get a bucket of water. Place the bucket of water on the ground. Roll up our right sleeve and then plunge our arm into the bucket of water. Hold it there for at least a minute. Then, we are to pull our arm out.
Now, stop and see how much of a hole we left in the water. That is the measure of our importance.
Prayer: Father, I seek to remain humble before You in my life each day. Amen.
