Taste of Death

November 5

Daily Bible Reading: Hebrews 2

Verse of the Day: Hebrews 2:9 – “But we behold him who hath been made a little lower than the angels, even Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for every man.”

We say that we glory in the cross; however, it is not the literal cross that we bow to. We bow humbly to the One who hung upon that cross. It is not the cross, it is what the cross represents that we reverence. It is our Substitute, the One who took our place that we look to. He paid the price for our sins. He suffered, bled, and died to provide the full payment for our sin-debt before the Father. He was willing to go into the depth of agony and suffering for me (and you) so that we can be reconciled with the Heavenly Father.

Prayer: Jesus, I pause today to ponder the great superior Love that You had for all mankind that You would freely give Your Life, Your Blood, Your Righteousness for us. As I now think upon my sinful condition before You, I accept Your grace in faith for my salvation.
