Blind eyes

January 18

Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 13:33 – 58

Verse of the Day: Matthew 13:57 – 58 – “And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

This is the second time that Jesus has gone into His hometown. Because of their familiarity with Him they refused to recognize Who He really is. They may have admitted that He was a Rabbi, but knowing His lack of training may have rejected Him as one. They definitely rejected Him as God.

And, in turn they took offense that He would present Himself in this way. Their unbelief blinded their eyes to who He is. Many take offense at Him today, and their eyes are blinded to who He is. They reject the One who could be their answer and hope.

Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see all that Jesus is. He is God, the very God who can offer the solution to every issue. The One who can direct and guide my life. I want to see Jesus. Amen.
