God With Us - עִמָּנוּאֵל

January 1

Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 1

Verse of the Day: Matthew 1:23 – “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.”

Immanuel. God with us. What a great and auspicious beginning for the New Year. To start this year with God in reading His Word – the reminder that God is with us in the person of Jesus Christ.

The prophet Isaiah predicted this in his writings. In the Old Testament we find this in Isaiah 7:14. This is a Greek transliteration of the Hebrew word – עִמָּנוּאֵל – that is why Matthew gives the interpretation to his readers.

What a wonderful thought, God is with us, every day, in every place, and in the days to come. No matter what happens in this year, we can rest assured that God (Jesus) is with us every step of the way.

Prayer: Immanuel, I am so excited to take this journey with You through Your Word this year. Bless my reading and application. Amen.
