Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 8
Verse of the Day: Matthew 8:1 – 2 – “And when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And behold, there came to him a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”
In chapters 8 – 10 we see the power of the King displayed in numerous miracles. We get a ringside seat to witness His miracles of healing, power over nature, and restoration of life.
As in His day, many focused only upon the miracle that was performed and miss the teaching that He gave with them. Because of His power over sickness, nature and death, He had the authority to forgive sin and restore a person to the right relationship with God the Father.
As you read these chapters, don’t lose sight of the greater underlying miracle – the gift of eternal life.
Prayer: Jesus, I am so easily caught up in the glamour and wonder of the miracle to the loss of the greater miracle – I am God’s child.
