Snakes or Doves?

January 12

Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 10:1 - 23

Verse of the Day: Matthew 10:16 – “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

Suspicion or discernment? There is a fine line between these two aspects in our lives. God expects us to be discerning, alert, and perceptive as we move through the world. He does not want us to be suspicious of everyone we come in contact with.

Suspicion can be defined as having or showing a cautious distrust of someone or something. Discernment can be defined as the ability to see and understand people, things, or situations clearly and intelligently.

We need to use discernment. We will face hatred and possibly violence from others, but we are to be pure and innocent in our interactions.

Prayer: God of all wisdom, grant me the ability to discern who, when and where I should be at all times in my walk with You. Give me a heart of love for others around me.
