Daily Bible Reading: Judges 3 – 5
Verse of the Day: Judges 5:3 – “Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto Jehovah; I will sing praise to Jehovah, the God of Israel.”
Singing which exalts God in the Scriptures is the Hebrew word zamar. It is generally addressed to God and is an expression of gratitude for what God has done for the one offering this praise, or for His mercy and justice. The English word psalm is derived from the Greek translation of this word.
A Spirit-filled saint is also a song-filled saint. Our songs of worship and praise are broadcast directly to the throne of God in Heaven. Buildings, pews, programs, books, and pulpits – none of these can sing or offer praise to God – only His redeemed believers can do this. And Jesus said that if we don’t, the very rocks of creation will. Don’t let a rock outdo you if you know the Lord.
Prayer: May I never allow anything else outdo me in praise to my Savior. Amen.
