Contentment

March 9

Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 8 – 10

Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 8:10 – “And thou shalt eat and be full, and thou shalt bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.”

Trials and blessings are both truly tough tests for the Believer. To have all we need or to be in need are areas that God warns us about in learning to be content, and to trust Him.

To be balanced and to acknowledge God when we are in the midst of prosperity is a struggle – it demands a full level of integrity on our parts. The temptations that come through these times can be more devastating to us than the sudden trauma of some misfortune.

Paul spoke in the New Testament of having learned to be content in either of these conditions (Philippians 4:11). Today, prepare yourself to worship and praise God in either need or excess. Being prepared ahead is the only way to be sure of responding in a godly way.

Prayer: God prepare me to stay balanced before You in both excess and need. Amen.
