Provision, Protection, or Prohibition?

March 13

Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 20 – 22

Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 22:8 – “When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any man fall from thence.”

A battlement? A battlement was a low wall that was placed around the edge of the flat roof of a house. The purpose? To keep anyone from accidentally falling off the roof.

Of all the rules and regulations that God gave (and could give), why was He concerned about people falling off the roof? Because He is concerned with every area of our lives. The rules and regulations He gave served two purposes – to provide and to protect us. It is rebellious spirit that causes us to see them as prohibitions. They are not prohibitions but protection and provision.

Prayer: Provider and Protector, thank You that You are concerned with all areas of my life. Let me follow Your teachings for safety. Amen.
