A Place of Refuge

March 27

Daily Bible Reading: Joshua 19 – 20

Verse of the Day: Joshua 20:2 – “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses…”

Today we do not have “cities of refuge” as they did in the nation of Israel. The cities were set aside to provide a place that one who accidentally killed another would find safety from the avenger of blood.

We are to be people of refuge for those who are passing through the storms of life. We go the distance for one who is in trouble, we show an attitude of compassion for those in need, and we are willing to make ourselves available to help – in practical and tangible ways – to any who are in need.

Are you a “city of refuge” for the ones God has placed in your life? Are you open to compassionately filling the needs of those who are struggling in life’s storms?

Prayer: Jesus, You are our Refuge and place of Rest. Help me be this to those You send my way today. Amen.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:5-8)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean.
