Daily Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 17 – 19
Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 15:11 – “Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;”
Moses here gives a prophecy that just as he had been their deliverer from Egypt, there would come One who would deliver people from their Egypt. Egypt is symbolic in the Bible for the world order. It is in Egypt that one is in bondage to sin. As Moses brought the people out from bondage in Egypt, One would come who will deliver from bondage of sin. This promised Prophet – the Messiah – would be the Anointed Prophet, Priest, and King. Centuries later Jesus fulfilled this (as well as numerous other) prophecy. He is the Promised Messiah – the great Prophet who would lead His people out of sin into promise.
Prayer: Father of Promise, thank you that our Moses, our Deliverer, our wonderful Savior has come and bought us out of slavery. Today may I praise Him for release. Amen.
