Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah: “
The Shema. The foundation of Israel’s beliefs. Following the re-giving of the Ten Commandments in chapter 5, God emphasizes that we are to love Him in our entirety.
The Shema provides us with two very foundational truths about this One who we are to love completely. First, Jehovah (or Yahweh) is unique. He is totally different from all other deities that man may construct. Second, He is unity. He is One in essence and One in harmony.
Judeo-Christian beliefs are a monotheistic belief. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one in essence and one in harmony. Today, pause and reflect upon this unique and glorious God – the Creator of all there is.
Prayer: Yahweh, we come to You today in pure worship of Your essence and unity. Amen.
