Resurrection

September 6

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:1 – 32

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 15:12 – “Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?”

The Scriptures often speaks of Christ’s resurrection (Greek αναστασις) from the dead. The term literally means a resurrection from out of the dead ones.

This 15th Chapter of the first letter to the Corinthians gives us a great deal of teaching on this vital topic. In verse 4 Paul shows that the Old Testament prophesied this event (Ps. 16:10). He gives judicial proof of the event, Christ being seen of over 500 at one time. Paul teaches that Christ’s resurrection is vital to the aspect of our salvation (v. 15:17).

Because Christ has conquered death, we no longer need to fear it (vv. 15:20-26). The last enemy has been conquered. The remainder of the chapter also deals with this important topic.

Prayer: Living Savior, we give praise and adoration for what You have accomplished, both on the cross and in Your Resurrection. Amen.
