Spiritual Gifts

September 2

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 12:1 – “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”

We come to an interesting section of the letter. Paul is discussing the spiritual gifts, their types, and uses. The Greek word used here “των πνευματικων,” literally means “the spiritual things.”

These graciously given gifts were given by the Lord to various individuals in the church to edify the believers. Every member of the church has been given at least one gift (teaching, prophesying, exercising faith, etc.) to serve in their respective churches.

You might say that God has not given you a gift, but He says in His Word that He has. So, that means that you need to search Him and His Word to discover what the gift is and how to use it in your local body of believers.

Prayer: Spirit, open my eyes to see what You have gifted me with, and how I am to use that gift where I am. I want to be used by You in the Church that Christ died for. Amen.
