Common Sense Nonsense

January 5

Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 12 – 14

Verse of the Day: Genesis 12:10 – “And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was sore in the land.”

This verse does not sound bad. In fact, common sense seems to justify the decision that Abraham has made. Except, there is no evidence that he sought God’s advice. As you continue to read today what takes place, it appears that Abraham struck out on his own, and wound up paying the consequences.

We must be careful not to make decisions based upon solely common sense. We must seek God and the wisdom from above. Pray, search Scripture, and wait for His plan of action. We as humans are impatient and constantly rushing in before we understand what God has in store. Today, muse over the decisions you need to make, and let God be in charge. You will not be sorry.

Prayer: Father of Wisdom, help me today make the right choices that will lead me in your path. Amen.
