Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 46 – 48
Verse of the Day: Genesis 47:9 – “And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”
When Jacob says his days were evil, he is not speaking of “sinful,” but of being constantly confronted by anger, anguish, distress and tribulation.
This is a reminder to us today that we are not promised ease and comfort. We are promised that God will keep all of His promises to us, He will be with us, and as Romans 8:28 reminds us in the New Testament that all things will work for our good (not necessarily be good as we consider it). Today, in your troubles, look to the One who will provide for our every need.
Prayer: Our Provider, today help me to recognize Your Presence in the events of today. Amen, and Amen.
