God Did Send Me

January 19

Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 44 – 45

Verse of the Day: Genesis 45:5 – “And now be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”

Here we begin to see the secret of Joseph’s being able to forgive his brothers for what they did decades before. They sold him as a slave, and this began the journey that would take him to the second highest position in Egypt. Read the verse again – “for God did send me.”

Joseph harbored no ill will or malice toward his brothers because he saw everything as the hand and plan of God. If we could learn to trust God in everything, we too could be like Joseph. We would harbor no malice, we would quickly forgive others; we would live each day as if it was the plan of God (which, by the way it is). Do not take the reins in your own hands, give them up to God and be prepared for the ride of your life.

Prayer: Our Blessed Lord, I give to You the reins to my life, I trust Your leading, and will follow in whatever Your plans are. Amen.
