Confident Walk

January 8

Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 20 – 22

Verse of the Day: Genesis 22:8 – “And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son. So they went both of them together.”

The promised son has been born. The pride and joy of his father is here. The name Isaac (laughter) so brought joy to the family. Yet, when he is a young lad, Abraham is told by God to offer him as a burnt sacrifice. The test is given. A temptation offers pleasure; a test is always hard. This is not for God to see if Abraham trusted Him, it was for Abraham (and us) to see that God is pleased by total obedience – even when we can’t see the purpose.

From the front cover to the back cover of our Bibles, we constantly see that God is pleased when we walk by faith. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Prayer: Gracious God, increase my faith today. Amen.
