Feet don't fail me now

August 30

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:14 – 33

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 10:14 – “Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.”

Idolatry. Does that really happen today? Oh yeah, it must be some of those weirdo religions out there. Well, the term used here in the Greek means the worship of false gods, of the formal sacrificial feats held in honor of false gods of avarice, as a worship of Mammon.

What is Mammon? The dictionary defines it as material wealth or possessions especially as having a debasing influence. So, do people tend to honor and worship their wealth today? Do we find people and religious teachings like that today? You bet. So, what do we do when confronted with idolatry? Stand up and rebuke it? Fight it tooth and nail? Debate it?

Well, Paul told the Corinthian believers to run! We need to heed that same advice today. When we are facing the temptation to fall into idolatry, run from it. Don’t dabble, don’t see how close you can get, don’t excuse it and dress it up. RUN!

Prayer: Father, give me swift feet to run.
